Browse Glen Ellyn ZIP Codes

A postal label can narrow a search, but it does not prove that an address sits inside Village limits. The Glen Ellyn ZIP code directory separates mail routing from parcel, election, school, and planning geography. Begin with the postal form to clean up an address. Then compare the county parcel key and Village boundary maps before linking a name to Glen Ellyn. This ZIP-by-ZIP method is useful when old records use a mailing city, when a tax address differs from the physical site, or when a route label reaches beyond the incorporated area. Each record keeper uses its own address key, so the best match comes from checking those keys in order.

Glen Ellyn ZIP Coverage

Official sources place two postal codes in the Glen Ellyn routing picture, but they do not draw the same line. The Village's current community map prints 60137. USPS publications associate both 60137 and 60138 with Glen Ellyn routing. Those publications describe mail processing and labels, not parcel-by-parcel Village limits. The Glen Ellyn ZIP code directory must therefore keep the postal result beside county and Village maps.

No inspected official source proved that 60138 is only for boxes or only for homes. Nor did it identify a separate retail station for that code. USPS Address Lookup controls the exact delivery format, while the Village and DuPage County control legal and parcel geography.

The Glen Ellyn ZIP Myth

A Glen Ellyn mailing label is not the same as incorporation. This is the key local myth to discard. Postal codes help carriers sort mail, while municipal boundaries control Village jurisdiction. A county parcel can have a Glen Ellyn postal city but sit outside the incorporated Village. Planning jurisdiction may extend to another line, and an election precinct or school district can cut the same land yet another way.

The contrast between the Village map and USPS bulletins is useful evidence. It supports a careful two-code explanation. It does not prove that a ZIP split moved a certain block or that every 60138 address belongs to Glen Ellyn. No official source in the research set verified a realignment year for a specific address. For an edge parcel, use the postal tool, county PIN, Village municipal boundary, and planning line as separate checks.

The official USPS Postal Bulletin provides the captured evidence associating Glen Ellyn routing with both codes.

The bulletin supports the postal association while leaving Village incorporation and parcel boundaries to local maps.

Boundary rule. A ZIP code routes mail; it does not establish Glen Ellyn taxes, voting district, zoning, or incorporation.

Search Glen Ellyn Postal Fields

The official USPS ZIP Code Lookup has three useful modes: a full address search, ZIP codes by city and state, and city labels by ZIP. A result normalizes postal text. It does not confirm that a named person or company occupies the address, a warning that matters in any ZIP code directory.

USPS ControlTypeRequiredUse
CompanyTextNoOptional name; not proof of presence
Street AddressTextYes in address modeStreet or street plus ZIP

Multiple results may require a unit number or a tighter street form. Save the standardized address before moving to DuPage records, since county and election forms may split direction, street name, and suffix into different fields.

PIN Beats ZIP for Glen Ellyn

For property work, the DuPage PIN is more stable than a postal code. The sample parcel number in the research is 05-11-307-022. Property Lookup calls it a PIN or Parcel ID, while the sample card also lists the physical site, billing name, tax year, legal description, neighborhood, and roll. The exact meaning of each PIN segment was not confirmed, so those digits should not be labeled as a township, section, or lot without a county guide.

The same PIN can connect Property Lookup, GIS, and Recorder documents. Plats connect it to lot, block, subdivision, and legal description. That chain can survive a changed street form or postal label. A trust, estate, or metes-and-bounds instrument may still need the full legal description. The ZIP code directory narrows place; the PIN proves which parcel the records describe.

ZIP+4
A more exact USPS delivery code added to the five-digit ZIP.
PO-box ZIP
A ZIP assigned to post-office-box delivery. The research did not prove this status for 60138.
Unique ZIP
A code assigned to one large recipient rather than a broad delivery area.
Carrier route
A postal delivery path inside a ZIP, not a municipal district.
PIN
The county parcel identifier used across property and deed systems.

Map Glen Ellyn ZIP Edges

The Village maps collection publishes street, zoning, address and zoning, annexation-agreement, school-district, historic-home, landmark, subdivision, and community maps. The March 5, 2025 address and zoning map reflects changes through December 31, 2024. It shows parcels, zoning districts, the municipal boundary, planning jurisdiction, and a downtown inset. These layers answer questions that a postal form cannot.

The captured index points to the correct map for each boundary issue, so a reader can compare postal, parcel, planning, and school geography without blending them.

For an address near an edge, match the standardized street to a county parcel. Then inspect the Village line and planning line. Annexation agreements, subdivisions, and right-of-way changes can explain why nearby homes share a postal label but not the same municipal status. If an old directory uses Glen Ellyn as a broad postal area, verify it against a historic map and legal parcel record.

Glen Ellyn ZIPs and Districts

School and election geography can add context, but neither follows the ZIP border. The Village community map labels Glenbard West, Glenbard South, Glen Crest, Hadley, District 41 and District 89 elementary schools, Saint Petronille, and Saint James. That makes school maps useful when an old yearbook, reunion notice, or local newspaper item gives a school but no full address.

The DuPage Election Division supports name, address, and district modes. Address Search asks for city, house number, street, direction, and suffix rather than ZIP. District results can include precinct, polling place, and district data. Public voter fields are limited by Illinois law, and protected voters have special procedures. A precinct match should never be treated as proof that all residents in a ZIP share the same ballot geography.

Note: Date-stamp district and zoning checks because Glen Ellyn map labels, precincts, planning files, and portal fields can change.

Read Glen Ellyn Address Types

Four address signals often appear in one Glen Ellyn search. The postal address is the delivery form. The situs is the physical parcel location. A tax mailing address is where the bill or notice goes, and the legal description identifies land through the recorded parcel language. They may match, but one does not prove the others.

Address KeyBest Use
Postal street addressNormalize delivery text and unit through USPS
Situs addressMatch the physical parcel in assessment, GIS, permit, and zoning files
Mailing addressIdentify the tax-notice destination, not an occupant
PINCarry one parcel through assessor, GIS, Recorder, and deed history
Lot, block, subdivisionResolve plat and legal geography when street text changes

The DuPage tax-bill portal can add an address and payment-record view. It still does not turn the mailing line into a list of people at the site. This is another reason to use each field for its own narrow claim.

Historic Glen Ellyn Postal Clues

Old directories may use Glen Ellyn as a mailing place without matching today's incorporated boundary. Compare the entry to a deed, plat, directory year, and historic map before claiming continuity. The local map shelf and historical-society real-estate files can bridge periods when a present-day address fails in an older index. No verified official street-renumbering list with effective years was found, so a failed modern match is not proof of a renumbering.

Historic preservation maps add a built-environment layer. The Village lists architectural eras and historic-district resources, while Sanborn map years include 1919, 1924, 1929, and 1940 corrected to 1946. Those sources can show a structure or block near a postal clue, but a permit or deed is still needed to connect a person or exact construction date.

The Village historic-preservation collection supplies the mapped context.

Glen Ellyn ZIP Boundary Limits

Use the Glen Ellyn ZIP code directory as a narrowing tool, not a resident list. USPS confirms delivery format and accepted city labels. DuPage County confirms parcels, deeds, tax records, and districts. The Village confirms incorporation, zoning, planning, and annexation context. Each source answers a different question, and no one screen replaces the others.

Official USPS bulletins in 2016, 2024, and 2026 show Glen Ellyn routing or labeling activity. They are not proof of a municipal change or a ZIP-boundary move. The Village's first full zoning-code update since 1989 is also in progress through 2026 and early 2027. Date-stamp zoning and permit interpretations, then recheck the current map before relying on them.

Careful use. Do not infer a private household, Village residency, or legal jurisdiction from a ZIP code alone.
